Kenyans in Oman Diaspora Association

Introduction

The Presidential Circular No. 1/2022 established State Department for Diaspora Affairs to address issues that concern Kenya’s Diaspora community who form an integral part of the Kenyan economy and social fabric. The Government of Kenya therefore intends to engage the Kenyan Diaspora in a more constructive and productive manner to unlock and unleash their full potential.

Mandate

  • Promotion of continuous dialogue with Kenyans abroad.
  • Champion the Protection of Kenya’s Diaspora rights and welfare.
  • Support Kenyans in the Diaspora in harnessing more opportunities for employment and enterprise development.
  • Develop Incentive framework for Diaspora Remittances.
  • Harness Diaspora savings, facilitate FDI and Technology transfers; and
  • Mainstreaming the Kenyan Diaspora into the national development process.

Policy Priorities

To enhance partnerships with the Diaspora and secure more international jobs for Kenyans by ensuring that Kenya lobbies for those jobs and enters into bilateral arrangements that guarantee an increase in the number of Kenyans employed internationally.

To improve the delivery of Consular services and develop Diaspora specific products to enhance partnerships with the Diaspora.

Registration of Kenyans in Oman

  • Kenyans residing in the Sultanate of Oman or visiting are requested to register with the Embassy for effective and efficient Consular Service delivery to the Kenyan residents or upon arrival in Oman. Those who are not registered are therefore required to do so immediately they visit the Embassy. Registration can also be done on-line via the link here below or through in person by downloading the registration “Registration of Kenyans” form and completing it.
  • Register Now if not already registered. Kindly note that your names should be entered as they appear on your passport. All details required on the registration form are very important and should not be overlooked when filling out the form.
  • It is always advisable to include copies of the relevant pages of your own and your family’s Kenyan passports. These will come in handy in cases of emergency (e.g. stolen passport). For the same reason, you should keep copies of all Kenyan documents at home.

Kenyan Diaspora in Oman (KiO) Association is a community of Kenyans living in the Sultanate of Oman who have common and collective accord of working together in support of socio-economic development as well as a to promote perspectives that Harness the Diaspora in Oman for National Development.
